Ovis

Ovis

Ovis dalli dalli is the scientific name for probably the most sought-after wild sheep in the world, the beautiful white Dall sheep of the north. The giant sheep of the world, the argalis, also carry the scientific beginning name of Ovis. For example, Mongolia’s Gobi Desert holds a sheep with the name Ovis ammon darwini, commonly known as the Gobi argali. These examples are part of the reason OVIS® was chosen as the name of the publication devoted to international sheep hunting. The Grand Slam Club merged with Ovis, Inc. in 2001 to become Grand Slam Club/Ovis. At the same time, the OVIS publication began recognizing not only the wild sheep of the world, but the wild goats of the world, including the beautiful white American mountain goat of North America. OVIS is filled with photos and hunting reports from around the world, and is completely devoted to wild mountain sheep and goats.

Grand Slam

Grand Slam

The Grand Slam Club was founded in 1956, and up until 1992 published a newsletter. After the publication got its title GRAND SLAM® in 1992, things really changed. It has gone from a small newsletter in those days to a full-color, thick and glossy, amazing publication. It is absolutely filled with beautiful photos and hunting reports from the membership. Besides these photos and hunting reports, one learns “where” and “with whom” to hunt for any of the six recognized wild sheep of North America. In addition to reports about Dall, Stone, Rocky Mountain bighorn and desert sheep, readers will also learn where to hunt the California bighorn and Fannin sheep. Truly, GRAND SLAM fits the long-time slogan “The World’s #1 Resource for Mountain Hunting.”

Super Slam

Super Slam

Grand Slam Club/Ovis (GSCO) introduced a program devoted to the Super Slam of North American Big Game® in late 2009. This program is dedicated to the 29 commonly recognized North American big game trophies. Naturally, GSCO has chosen SUPER SLAM® as the title for the publication associated with this program. SUPER SLAM follows the same format as GRAND SLAM and OVIS, in that there are dozens of photos and hunt reports in each issue. Any big game hunter, whether their passion is whitetail deer, black bear, elk or any of the others, will love SUPER SLAM. All member photos and reports submitted to GSCO are, and will be, featured in this wonderful new publication.
