I recently returned home from an awesome adventure down in south Florida- Okeechobee to be exact. I hunted hogs and alligator with Lee Lightsey of Outwest Farms (www.floridahuntingoutfitter.com) and was successful on taking both animals. Lee is a great GSCO supporter and donates to our auction each year. Outwest Farms has hog and gator hunts available year round and both species may be taken with any weapon you wish to use, including rifle, bow, handgun and for the brave at heart, you can also hunt hogs with spear and knife! Typically Lee conducts hunts with rifle or bow from a swamp buggy on private property. He has access to several ranches in the area, and has special permits to take problem gators from ranch cattle ponds. This is a...

Many of the outfitters are winding down, and getting ready for a few months of tradeshows, while others are getting prepared for their winter hunts. And here I sit, working at a computer, trying to tap into my inner Jedi-master of patience… when all I want to do is head back outside too!
I would like to thank everyone who emailed in with topic ideas. This year at the GSCO Convention I have two seminars that were the most popular requests! Here are the teasers for each:
It's no secret that one of the most important pieces of a hunter's arsenal is a good pair of quality boots. Weapons are important, optics are important, clothing is important, but if your feet hurt too much to climb the mountain or cross the valley, then all the other gear is totally useless. This past August I went on my first Dall sheep hunt in the Yukon with Ceaser Lake Outfitters. I knew from reading hunt reports in Grand Slam and talking with experienced sheep hunters that this part of North America is home to some of the roughest mountains a hunter can traverse.
With this being my first real mountain hunting experience, I wanted to make sure I had all the proper gear to...
